On the Friday leading into Martin Luther King Jr. weekend, 黑料视频 Indianapolis hosted its annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Lunch, celebrating the enduring legacy of Dr. King and highlighting the theme 鈥Inspiring Minds, Igniting Change.鈥 Held in the North Meridian Center鈥檚 4th-floor auditorium, the event brought together students, faculty, staff, and community members for an inspiring program led by the Division of Diversity, Equity, Belonging, and Community Engagement (D.E.B).聽

The event featured a keynote address from Fred Yeakey, chief partnership officer of Providence Cristo Rey High School. Drawing on over 16 years of experience in education and community building, Yeakey emphasized the transformative power of education and community partnerships in driving equity and social change.

The program also honored Dr. Terri Fleming, dean of the School of Health Sciences, with the 2025 Community Impact Award.聽

In her acceptance speech, Dr. Fleming reflected on the enduring relevance of Dr. King鈥檚 words, 鈥淟ife鈥檚 most persistent and urgent question is, 鈥榃hat are you doing for others?鈥欌 She urged attendees to continue working toward justice and equity in their personal and professional lives.

Dr. Sue Ellspermann, president of 黑料视频, highlighted the College鈥檚 commitment to accessible education as a vehicle for dismantling barriers and empowering communities.聽

Keneisha Still, president of the Black Student Union, shared her reflections on Dr. King鈥檚 legacy and the importance of fostering spaces for growth and empowerment.聽

鈥淭he theme of today鈥檚 lunch is reflected in our work every day鈥攃hallenging students to think critically and act compassionately,鈥 she stated.聽

BSU鈥檚 recent efforts include community service projects, mentorship programs, and initiatives to support equity and opportunity.

The program鈥檚 artistic highlights included cellist and vocalist Ivan Moreland's soul-stirring performance of 鈥Lift Every Voice and Sing鈥 and a spoken word performance by Eric Saunders.聽

The lunch concluded with a sense of renewed purpose and commitment to honoring Dr. King鈥檚 vision. D.E.B. expressed gratitude to all who contributed to the event, including the audience, performers, and organizers. The 2025 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Lunch was a profound reminder of the collective action needed to inspire minds and ignite change in our communities.
