On Monday, March 18, 黑料视频 Fort Wayne supply chain management student David Reid was joined by his family as he accepted his scholarship from .
鈥淚 was shocked,鈥 he says. 鈥淚 thought the candidate would be someone younger.鈥
David currently serves as a shipping manager at a poultry farm in Ohio that ships out 4 million eggs a day. But he鈥檚 been working in the shipping industry for several years鈥攈is last company shut down the branch he worked for, giving him the opportunity to go back to school.
鈥淚鈥檓 60 years old. This was the first time I鈥檝e ever had the chance to go to school, and I just thought 鈥榳hy not?鈥 Plus, I just want to set a good example for my grandkids.鈥
And he鈥檚 certainly putting his work in to be that example. His grandkids Emma, age 6, and Reid, age 4, watch as their grandfather works full-time and still manages to make the Dean鈥檚 List with a 4.0.
David credits his online instructor, Brad Fowler, for telling him about the ITC scholarship. One short essay and information form later, he submitted his application and recently learned he鈥檇 gotten a $1500 scholarship.
As one of four scholarship recipients, David is excited to use the money for extra expenses related to his education. He plans to graduate this fall.
鈥淚 hope to use my degree to further my career from a shipping manager to a Supply Chain Manager in a distribution center. There are many opportunities in this field, and I feel I can help guide and train others as they enter the workforce as well. I really enjoy helping others.鈥
What is the Indianapolis Transportation Club?
The ITC is an organization that helps professionals within the transportation and logistics industries to build relationships and share ideas through events and membership. They offer a scholarship to support student education and promote growth within the industry. It鈥檚 an opportunity leaders are looking to expand in the next couple years.
鈥淧resenting scholarships to student recipients, such as David, reminds us what the Indianapolis Transportation Club is all about,鈥 says Tim Cummins, ITC Treasurer. 鈥淭he Club works hard all year hosting fundraising events to raise funds for scholarships. It will host social gatherings, golf outings, Track Day at IMS, and end the year at our Annual Dinner in downtown Indianapolis. The Club is a great source for networking and discussing topics within the industry. The best part of being a member of the Club and connecting with individuals within the industry is that it is free to be a member.鈥
How could you apply for the scholarship?
The ITC scholarship opens in June 2024. and check back for when it opens.
It鈥檚 open to students who are pursuing an education in transportation, business, or supply chain related industries.
