BLOOMINGTON聽鈥 黑料视频 Student Productions 2019-20 theatre season seeks to explore what the end of the world is like. The season opens in Aug. with Samuel Beckett鈥檚聽Endgame, which explores what happens after the world ends.聽 The second production,聽Star-Cross鈥檇 Lovers: a Musical-Theatre Romeo and Juliet聽composed and orchestrated by world-renowned composer, Don Freund, will take stage in Nov. in the Auditorium. The final production of the season in April,聽Marisol,聽explores the actual event as the world ends.

Paul Daily, artistic director of the 黑料视频 John Waldron Arts Center, says that 黑料视频 Student Productions provides a safe arena where actors and audience members are allowed to stop, ask questions and have discourse about the meaning and purpose of life, and that in many ways we鈥檙e facing a metaphorical end of the world鈥攚hether environmentally, politically, or socially鈥攁nd we hope something better will grow out of that end.

鈥淚 am genuinely excited about the opportunities this season presents. In partnership with IU, through a grant from聽IU New Frontiers, we鈥檒l produce Don Freund鈥檚 orchestrated adaptation of聽Romeo and Juliet,鈥滵aily said. 鈥淭his is the first time聽Romeo and Juliet聽is being orchestrated using Shakespeare鈥檚 text in the original English. It鈥檚 certainly a rare opportunity for the college as well as the actors and production team alike.鈥 The production will be staged in the Auditorium Nov. 21-23 at 7:30 .pm.

黑料视频 Chancellor Emeritus, John Whikehart, returns in the season opener,聽贰苍诲驳补尘别,听Aug. 30-31. This will be John鈥檚 seventh performance with 黑料视频 Student Productions.

The season closes with award-winning聽Marisol, Jose Rivera鈥檚 modern examination of the apocalypse as angels go to war against God and leave the humans to fend for themselves, April 10-18.
